Network Connection Dropping - Rasmussen - 03-11-2017 16:50 MinimServer 0.8.4, Win 7 Enterprise I run MinimServer and Asset concurrently on the same PC, but I don't stream at the same time. So far, I like MinimServer, but I do have an issue with it. Somehow it seems to be much less robust with respect to the network. To this point, I haven't been able to play a single full album with MinimServer -- the player drops the network connection after two or three tracks; sometimes, the network connection drops even while I'm browsing the library. When I stream with Asset, this issue is not present. Asset keeps on streaming, regardless. iTunes is running on a different machine, and it doesn't seem to be affected either. I also noticed one other detail. When the player drops the network connection, I go back to server selection, and Asset is listed automatically, but not MinimServer -- I have to tap Refresh to get it to show up in the list of servers. Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this issue? The MinimServer log doesn't seem to contain any relevant data. RE: Network Connection Dropping - simoncn - 03-11-2017 18:54 This is caused by a UPnP multicast discovery problem with your network. Asset floods the network with very frequent discovery announcements as a workaround for this network problem. The ohNet UPnP stack used by MinimServer doesn't do this. See this section for some initial suggestions for how to fix this. RE: Network Connection Dropping - Rasmussen - 04-11-2017 01:19 So I checked the devices on the network. IGMP Snooping was disabled on all but one switch. I disabled it. We'll see how it works out. RE: Network Connection Dropping - Rasmussen - 05-11-2017 23:29 After disabling IGMP Snooping on that switch, I rebooted all devices (1 router, 2 bridges, 1 switch). So far, no more problems -- whether because of disabling snooping or because of rebooting, I don't know. Pourvu que ça dure. |
