booklet.pdf with multiple folders - rompolompo - 16-01-2017 05:34

The booklet.pdf feature works great with single folder albums. I have the following folder structure:

Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 1\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 2\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 3\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 4\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 5\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 6\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 7\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 8\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\Symphony No. 9\
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\cover.jpg
Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic\booklet.jpg

Each symphony has its own folder. Within each folder, there is a cover.jpg file as well as the FLAC files. Covers show on BubbleUPnP without a problem. I would like to avoid copying the pdf file (around 9MB) into each folder (symphony). Is there something I should change in the tags to facilitate this?

Do all these symphonies have the same ALBUM tag (for example, Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic) or do they have different ALBUM tags (for example, Beethoven – Symphonies 1-9, Simon Rattle, Berliner Philharmonic, Symphony No. 1)?

If they all have the same ALBUM tag, you can put a file named booklet.pdf or albumname.pdf in any of the subfolders containing any of the FLAC files. It won't work if you put this file in the top-level folder. For full details of how this works, see this section.

All the albums have the following Album tag:

Symphonies 1-9

If I cannot use one pdf file in the top level folder, I can always remove the "symphonies" folder and have one folder with all the files in it.

Is there a problem with having one pdf file in the Symphony No. 1 folder? This is all you need.

I wasn't sure this was possible. I will try this tonight. What is the logic behind having the pdf file in only the first folder?

This is explained in this section. See points 3 and 7 under "For each audio file..." and points 1 and 2 under "For each album...".

I got that. I was trying to avoid using anything else but booklet.pdf. Removing the directories fix this. Thanks!

You could keep the directories and use booklet.pdf in just the Symphony 1 directory. See point 7 under "For each audio file..." and point 2 under "For each album...".

Simon,

This:

"For an audio file that is part of an album, a file named folder.pdf or booklet.pdf (exact-case match if available, otherwise case-insensitive match) in the same directory (folder) as any of the audio files in the album"

Did not make it clear enough. Maybe an example for future reference?
