Installing a Java update can cause problems if you are running the x64 version of MinimWatch and you used a 32-bit browser to do the update. In this case, you would normally get the message "Can't load AMD 64-bit .dll on a IA 32-bit platform" (see the Note to step 1 on this page). This happens because the updater installs the 32-bit version of Java instead of the 64-bit Java that you had installed previously. As a first step, try powering the machine off and on. If this doesn't work, try uninstalling Java and reinstalling the correct version of Java (32-bit or 64-bit). RE: MinimWatch Not Opening - rogerdn - 22-08-2015 19:31 Restarting did not fix and I had not gotten the 'Can't load.... message. I had updated Java using the version recommended inthe notice (60) and had restarted the pc. Rereading the install instructions I don't see what i did wrong. I have a 64 bit win machine and had the 64 MinimWatch installed, I assume working prior to this although I had not used it for a week or so. So is the IE browser bit spec involved ? if so how do I find mine, About/Help doesn't say. Please try completely uninstalling Java and installing Java 8u60 Windows x64 using the download from this page. If this doesn't improve things, what exactly happens when you try to launch MinimWatch by double-clicking the desktop launch icon? RE: MinimWatch Not Opening - rogerdn - 23-08-2015 15:38 Ok will do, I have removed both MW amd Java, is there a preference for which to install first ? I've done the same thing on my Windows 7 laptop and got it working but how do I connect MW to MinimServer which is running on my QNAP NAS? Ultimately I'm still confused about how and where to install MinimStreamer - W7 laptop or NAS? Apologies for my confusion, I should know this! I have my MS on my NAS and MW installed on a computer on the same network. If MW is running on your laptop what are you expecting it to do ? I'm far from an expert on this but MW should see MS. MinimWatch should automatically detect MinimServer and connect to it. When you launch MinimWatch, do you see a minim icon (musical note) in the Windows system tray? If so, what colour is this icon? When MinimWatch has established a connection to MinimServer, you need to use MinimWatch to install MinimStreamer. MinimStreamer will be installed on the QNAP as an extension to MinimServer even though you are doing the installation from Windows. |
