Best Controller for MAC OS X - granosalis - 03-04-2015 14:44 Dears, I'm using minimserver on QNAP intel + Bel Canto Streamer. The LAN is wired using a switch and the controller (Linn Kinsky) is running on a MAc Book Pro (used also for ripping). Kinsky is good but I'm not fully satisfied. Which are the potential alternatives and what can you recommend? Thanks in advance, Giuseppe RE: Best Controller for MAC OS X - bbrip - 03-04-2015 18:12 (03-04-2015 14:44)granosalis Wrote: Dears, on OSX you may want to give Linn KAZOO a try, which is the 'modern' replacement of Kinsky. It looks pretty good but doesn't offer a lot more features, the most notable probably being TIDAL integration. If you are on iOS (iPad) then the LUMIN App is pretty cool and works very well in concert with MinimServer. bbrip RE: Best Controller for MAC OS X - granosalis - 03-04-2015 18:27 (03-04-2015 18:12)bbrip Wrote:(03-04-2015 14:44)granosalis Wrote: Dears, Thanks, but it dosn't works. It stay in continuous "searching for room". RE: Best Controller for MAC OS X - bbrip - 03-04-2015 18:36 ok, then its probably incompatible with your streamer :-( RE: Best Controller for MAC OS X - audio_elf - 03-04-2015 18:40 Kazoo requires an OpenHome compatible renderer so won't work with the BelCanto "out the box". However if you install BubbleUPnPServer that emulates OpenHome for any normal UPnP renderer and will allow Kazoo to work. (link for bubbleserver -- http://www.bubblesoftapps.com/bubbleupnpserver/ ) The other option would be to try J.River on your Mac but I've no idea how good it works as a UPnP controller or if you still have to use its own server. Not many options around for UPnP Control Point on OS X. RE: Best Controller for MAC OS X - antonmb - 03-04-2015 21:29 Does Bel Canto not provide an app? If I well understood, BubbleUPnPServer do not replace minim server, right? As stated on the webpage... "BUBBLEUPNP SERVER IS NOT AN UPNP AV MEDIA SERVER. Unless BubbleUPnP Server is used only for use with Chromecast, it requires at least one working UPnP AV Media Server or Media Renderer to do something useful." You'll still use Minimserver as the UPnP server, BubbleUPnPServer just allows you to use OpenHome control points with non-OpenHome renderers. RE: Best Controller for MAC OS X - granosalis - 04-04-2015 07:28 BubbleUPnP installed on QNap and Kazoo works like a charm! Thanks a lot for your precious support. |
