installing MinimServer on Buffalo Tech NAS? - pacoinmass - 29-03-2015 03:27 I'm considering buying an Aurelic Aries (currently I'm using Sonos) to play hi-res files. I currently have my music library, managed through iTunes in Apple Lossless format, on a Buffalo Technology LS-XHL NAS drive. Aurelic recommends Minimserver as working well with Aries. My question: can I install Minimserver on the Buffalo Tech? If not, can I install it on other models (I also have an LS-WTGL/R1-V3 and a LS-VL)? From reviewing the "Installing" page, it doesn't look like I can, however I wanted to check before I'm go out an buy a new NAS. Thanks in advance for answering this question. You should be able to login to the NAS via SSH or Telnet and install the MinimServer package for Linux ARM soft float. For instructions, see this page. Figuring out how to login via SSH or Telnet, which version of Java to install, etc. seems pretty complex. I manage my NAS drives by using a browser to sign-on from my Macbook. Am I better off buying a QNAP NAS and installing Minimserver through their app? There is an easy-to-use MinimServer install package in the QNAP App Center that supports all current models in the QNAP range. |
