No sorting, only [folder view] available - Barnz1 - 16-03-2014 17:58 Howdy from Texas. I'm having some trouble with my minimserver setup, and I haven't been able to find a resolution in the user guide or through searching the forums. I'm sure it's out there, but I guess I haven't figured out the correct search terms. ![]() My problem is that I'm not getting access to sort my music via Artist, Album, or any of the other options. When I connect my network player to the Miminserver, all I see are are two line items: Quote:13051 items I am running Minim Server version 0.8.1 update 22 on a Synology DS412+. The network player is the Naim NDX, and the music on the Synology was ripped by a Naim Unitiserve in WAV format, so there are no embedded tags or metadata. The Folder structure is standard Artist>Album>songfile.wav, (e.g. Quote:Ani DiFranco I'm imagining there is some minim server setting that will recognize the folder structure as 'metadata,' but I can't figure it out. Or is there something I need to do to the files themselves so that Mimimserver will get the idea?? Thanks for any suggestions. Or is there something I need to do to the files themselves so that Mimimserver will get the idea?? If you select [folder view], this should give you what you want. To fully use the capabilities of MinimServer, you would need to add metadata ID3v2 tags to your WAV files. RE: No sorting, only [folder view] available - Barnz1 - 16-03-2014 21:16 Thanks for straightening me out. I will do some testing and find out if tagging my WAV files makes sense for me. I am a little bit paranoid about mucking about with the files, as I have heard the difference in rips from different engines that were all allegedly "bit-perfect." Adding tags doesn't change the bit-perfect audio data in any way, so it won't make any difference to the sound. RE: No sorting, only [folder view] available - Barnz1 - 17-03-2014 15:06 I certainly understand that adding tags *shouldn't* change the audio data, but I've heard some things that are verifiable and repeatable, but not measurable with traditional metrics.

By "traditional metrics", are you referring to a bit comparison of the audio data within the file? |
