What does a Blue Colour mean - grimreaper46 - 02-12-2013 00:54 All of a sudden, I clicked on MinimWatch and it put an Icon on the desk top as usual, except it is Blue in colour (not an option as far as I can tell). Only About; Refresh; and Exit are available on the menu. MinimServer is running on my NAS and MinimWatch on my Lap Top and have been running perfectly up to now. Any suggestions please? Some months ago, there was a faulty update to Java from Apple that caused this "blue icon" problem. The faulty update was replaced shortly afterwards, so it's unlikely to be the cause of this problem. See this post for details of how to check whether you have the faulty update installed. Please also try rebooting the laptop. Does the problem still occur after a reboot? OK, I think the icon is probably "grey" rather than "blue" (perhaps a blueish shade of grey). This means that MinimWatch can't see MinimServer. Can you see and use MinimServer from a control point such as Kinsky? If not, please try rebooting the computer or NAS that you are using to run MinimServer. If you can see MinimServer from Kinsky but not from MinimWatch, this is probably caused by one of the following: 1) A firewall setting on the PC. You can check this by temporarily disabling the firewall. 2) Another active network adapter on the PC. MinimWatch might be using this instead of the correct adapter. You can check this by disabling the other network adapter. If the cause is 2), I will let you know how to configure MinimWatch to prevent this from happening. This can happen sometimes if the NAS goes into hibernation and the router drops the NAS from the multicast group because the NAS isn't responding to IGMP queries from the router. You should be able to fix this by disabling IGMP snooping on the router. |
