Link to QNAP external drive - Mokau - 26-11-2013 13:45
I am new to minimserver. Currently I use the directory of /Share/Multimedia for the QNAP TS269Pro internal drive without problem. However, when I connect an external USB drive to the QNAP, I put in the link /Share/USBdisk1 or /USBdisk1, both cannot be recognized by the minimserver. Would appreciate advice on the proper path for external drive. Is there any limit for number of external drives in the path?

On my QNAP, the path is /share/USBDisk1. Note that 'share' has a small 's' and 'Disk' has a capital 'D'.

It works now. I assume there is no limit for no of external disks if I follow the same way to input path.
Do you know if there is any sound quality difference for internal disk versus external USB3 disks?

You can have a maximum of 8 content directories, which could be (for example) one internal disk and 7 external disks.
I wouldn't expect there to be any sound quality difference, but this might depend on which renderer (music player) you are using. There has been a recent discussion on this forum about whether the disk in the server can affect the renderer's sound quality. The only way to find out for certain is to try it yourself with your setup.
