Thank you so much. Just in preparation for that, how do you actually enable the dsf:dopwav setting ? I cannot recall seeing any specific way of doing this, I think I may have just saved the settings (sorry I am away from the server etc.)

1) From the MinimServer configuration web page, select the MinimStreamer tab and then select the Properties subtab

2) In the stream.transcode field, type: dsf:dopwav

3) Click the Save button

4) Stop and restart your control point app

Thanks.

The stream.transcode field now only contains “dsf.dopwav”.
I saved the changes.
I closed and restarted mconnect HD on the iPad
Unfortunately .dsf file reproduction is still distorted(they are definitely .dsf files, I checked)

Thanks for confirming this.

I have uploaded the original .dsf file that I used to create the test1.wav file. This file test1.dsf is in the same download location as the test1.wav file. Please download this file and try to play it from MinimServer with dsf:dopwav transcoding. This file has tags, so it won't appear in the [untagged] section. You should be able to find it using [folder view].

If the test1.dsf file plays without distortion, there is some difference between this .dsf file and the .dsf files you are playing using dsf:dopwav. It it doesn't play correctly, I am not sure what could be causing the problem.

I am sorry: I cannot see any link here or in private messages

My apologies. You should now have a PM with the download link.

You’ve cracked it. The file you sent played flawlessy.
I went back to trying my own DSD files. It turns out that I had been using a series of samples which I had downloaded from the NativeDSD website for testing, and therefore thought were ideal to this purpose: it turns out that they must have been corrupted because I do not have any problems with all the other DSD files I have, which play normally. What caused confusion was that the “defective DSDs”, as I had previously explained, perturbed permanently the reproduction of any “sound” DSDs played afterwards, until I “reset” the DAC501 by rebooting it. Thank you very much for your help and patience. I have not tried any 128 samples as I do not have any but I am sure they would be fine.

I am very pleased that the mystery is solved!

DSD128 should be fine if your DAC supports this resolution (not all do).
