RE: Profile Settings Confusion - simoncn - 14-07-2023 10:11 What are the settings in your current profile when you try to play a DSF file? Also, what renderer are you using? When you try to play a DSF file, do you see any error message in the renderer, the control point or the MinimServer log? RE: Profile Settings Confusion - AnnieBody - 14-07-2023 14:20 I don't not know what you mean by 'renderer' or 'control point'. I connect my PC music files to my Cambridge Audio Azur 851N streamer using ethernet and use MinimServer as the library device in the Cambridge Audio streammagic app. As before, DSF playback worked before restoring a backup. If I startup my system with the default MinimServer profile then DSF files play (quality unknown): [attachment=2999] If I change the profile and restart MinimServer then DSF files play: [attachment=3000] But if I startup my system with this user profile then DSF files do not play. They skip from start to finish. I can attach a log if you let me know what format to record. RE: Profile Settings Confusion - simoncn - 14-07-2023 15:37 It is usually better to play DSF files without transcoding if your renderer (the Cambridge Audio Azur 851N) can handle this. This should provide better sound quality than transcoding DSF to WAV. The setting in your profile for transcoding DSF to WAV produces a 32-bit 352.4 kHz WAV stream. The Azur 851N (according to its specs) is limited to 24-bit 192 kHz, so you would need to change dsf:wav to dsf:wav24;192 to produce a 24-bit 192 kHz WAV stream that can play on the Azur 851N. Although this is technically possible, it is not recommended because sound quality will be inferior to playing the DSF file on the Azur 851N without transcoding. RE: Profile Settings Confusion - AnnieBody - 15-07-2023 11:53 My Bad! I appear to have got into a mess regarding backups and restore! You have already provided this information in another of my topics; I followed your advice then and made the changes that worked. I looked at my one before last backup and the correct stream transcode settings were used. Thanks for your patience and I apologise for wasting your time! |
