RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - AmBaKlaRo - 13-07-2021 07:57 Thank you, simoncn, for your effort and the really intensive attempt to help me. Unfortunately, this means that I cannot use your software for my classical music collection, which is a pity because the only viable alternative besides Raumfeld (which only streams its own speakers) is Synology's DS Audio, which displays everything correctly but works extremely slowly. Once again, thank you for your support. RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - simoncn - 13-07-2021 12:25 I tried this with DS Audio using my test library and the results are the same as with MinimServer. On MinimServer, I set tagValue to Work.default={Album} and I added Work to indexTags. I browsed by Composer > somecomposer > Work > somework > n items. This showed a list of all tracks with the selected composer and work. The tracks from multi-movement works were not combined. On DS Audio, I selected By Composer > somecomposer > somework. This showed a list of all tracks with the selected composer and work. The tracks from multi-movement works were not combined. Are you doing something different when you browse using DS Audio? What are you doing to see the multi-movement works combined? RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - AmBaKlaRo - 13-07-2021 14:12 Thanks again. With DS Audio on Android I select Composer - a composer [here Sarasate] - and then see all the works including all the albums "Zigeunerweisen". See screenshots. Using the PC browser on the NAS, I select AudioStation - Composer - one composer [Sarasate] - accordingly and get the same result. All albums [Album Tag] are displayed, including all "Zigeunerweisen". RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - simoncn - 13-07-2021 15:44 Is "Zigeunerweisen" a work with a single movement (track) or a work with multiple movements (tracks)? RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - AmBaKlaRo - 13-07-2021 16:02 One of them is multiple-movement recordet [4 Tracks] the others are single-movement [1 track]. The 4 Tracks-Recording is in an extra folder the others not. Displayed in HifiCast via Minimserver is the multiple-movement album correctly and all the others are listed like single-movement under one album. RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - simoncn - 13-07-2021 21:40 I am not seeing this in DS Audio on my test library. When I select the composer, I see a list of work names. When I select one of these work names, I see a list containing all tracks for all instances of the work (every single-movement track and all the tracks of the multi-movement work). I have not found any way to have the multi-movement work shown as a single item in a list of works. RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - AmBaKlaRo - 14-07-2021 13:00 My way is the same but the albums are displayed correctly under DS Audio. Under "Composer" I select "Sarasate" and see all "albums" [multi-movement and single-movement] with the corresponding "covers". If I select a multi-movement work, I see all the movements correctly below each other. If I select a single-movement work, the music starts to play. For Minimserver, I select "Sarasate" under "Composer" and then "Zigeunerweisen" under either "Album" or "Work". Then I see the screenshot in the attachment on the far left. Here I tap on "2 albums" and see the screenshot in the middle with a single-movement recording of Zigeuerweisen and the multi-movement recording [which is physically in an extra folder under "Sarasate"]. If I now tap on the single-movement recording [here with performer Tianwa Yanng], I get to the screen on the far right where all other single-movement recordings of Zigeunerweisen are also listed under this album, but as individual tracks of the selected album with Tianwa Yang. Simon: Similar to your tests, I could not replicate the Ops findings, until I added values for AlbumArtist. Audio Station then behaves as per the Ops description. RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - simoncn - 15-07-2021 22:59 It sounds like AlbumArtist is the key to how DS Audio is able to make this work. Many thanks to both of you for the information you have provided. I now have all the information that I need to enable me to understand what is happening with MinimServer and with DS Audio. Unfortunately there is no simple solution for adding a similar capability to MinimServer. This is because it would require a major change in how MinimServer groups tracks into albums. RE: Not all Albums shown. Tagged classical music - AmBaKlaRo - 16-07-2021 11:01 Of course I understand that this is not easily possible with Minimserver and I thank you very much for your attempts to find a solution here for classical music listeners who have often tagged their collection in the way I described. I will keep an eye on Minimserver and maybe one day I will find the best music server for classical music here. Thanks again and all the best. |
