I am using Melco's own DoP transcode facility, not your MinimStreamer version. I can certainly try the MinimStreamer transcode function. I don't think it has anything to do with MinimServer/MinimStreamer as the same problem occurs using the Melco installed server. It must be a problem with either the Melco or my DAC when DoP is involved. Sorry if this has no place on your forum but I don't know where else to look for other Melco users. I am not set up to use the Melco server, only MinimServer. I could try playing a DSF DSD64 file with MinimStreamer DoP/WAV transcoding but this wouldn't prove much because it would be different from your setup. There is only problem with gapless playback of DSD and this is problem of Melco as Alan told me. Thanks for your time and patience on this. Thanks for your time and patience on this. I'm glad to hear this. I'm sure Melco would like to know about this problem so that they can fix it. This is problem with DAC or with two/second servers.(16-01-2016 17:44)beckphotonik Wrote: Thankfully the problem seems to have been resolved by using the MinimStreamer dopwav conversion. RE: Melco Audiophile NAS - n3mmr - 21-01-2016 10:42 I read this thread start with great interest, particularly since SimonCN says in his second post that he goes about this scientifically. I haven't read all the comments here, so maybe I am now horribly unfair, but I think you're missing one vital point: Individual auditory impressions are NOT repeatable data! If you want to know if a particular setup actually produces audible changes, you must be able to determine this in a blind test setup, preferably double blind ( i e noone at the test venue knows which is which, not even the test leader ). If blind is impossible to do, you must at least be very self-critical and not trust your senses off hand. If you want to determine which is the more accurate reproducing chain, you must have the unaffected audio available for immediate comparison. I was privy to a rather long series of tests of this kind, in the nineties, mostly testing power amplifiers and D/A-s, and there was one dominant lesson for me; If you have one device which sounded "nicer" or "better" compared to a majority of other, similar-sounding devices, it was invariably the odd-one-out that was the coloring, distorting or compressing device. And I REALLY mean invariably. No exceptions whatsoever. RE: Melco Audiophile NAS - honey-joun - 25-01-2016 12:53 Simon, as a new member of this thread can I kindly ask you how you are running Minimserver on the Melco ? Did you install it on the Melco itself (how does it work in this case?) or on a computer ? FYI I am using a Melco N1A NAS, feeding an Ayre DAC via USB which are "driven" by a Kinsky App on my iPad. Oh and....since the migration of all the data from my iTunes library (running pure music) to the Melco via ethernet, especially HI-RES files of complete classical music cycles, my library is in a total mess (for instance mixing up different string quartets or symphonies from the same cycles) and no application has helped me so far in putting things back to order For the time being: well, still enjoying my turntable ![]() Thank you in advance and very best regards from Oman.
