Yes, but for the player to see changes in files with added tags, they must be rescanned by Minimserver. Minimserver must recognize them as new, otherwise it won't scan them when searching for added or changed files. I'd have to scan the entire library each time, which is time-consuming.

RE: Recently added option - simoncn - 09-10-2025 10:59

This is not how MinimServer works. It caches previously scanned files in the added-dates.txt file in addition to caching the file metadata for rescan purposes. If MinimServer finds a file listed in added-dates.txt that has changes (a different last modification date), it reads the metadata changes but does not change the date of the file for "recently added" display.

I think the issue you are seeing is that the audio file has dropped out of the added-dates.txt list because of the limited size of this list and therefore is not identified as a previously added file whose added date should be preserved.

I'd suggest a limit of 5000. I'm saying this without knowing the overhead on processing both at 'import' stage and when viewing recently added items. Or is it as simple as a bigger 'recently added' file?

I'm assuming I'm reasonably average/normal in that we do a big import at the beginning of our streaming/upnp journey and then subsequently are adding relatively very few items (i.e. a few cd's) at a time.

I see the question of whether updating tags counts as an 'import' as a different subject.

RE: Recently added option - simoncn - 09-10-2025 19:52

The purpose of "Recently added" is to show files that were added recently. As such, it is not designed or intended to include files from the "big import" at the beginning. The purpose of the Recently added index is to show files that were added recently, not files that were imported a long time ago.

I agree Simon and get completely that 'recently added' is the most recently added files up to whatever limit is in place (even if some of the entries were a long time ago).
As I said, I'm not sure of what goes on in terms of the processing overhead with all this stuff, and also whether it as simple as a bigger 'recently added' file. I'm interested in how it works.

Yes, your diagnosis is correct. I have a very large number of albums, and that's probably why every change is perceived as adding new albums. I hope this will be improved in future versions of Minimserwer by removing the file write limit.

Has release 264 increased the maximum limit for number of recently added tracks?

RE: Recently added option - simoncn - 13-12-2025 18:10

I have not had time to work on this yet. I need to verify exactly what resources are being used with the current limit and measure what impact an increased limit would have.

RE: Recently added option - keithsonic - 15-12-2025 15:00

Noted - 1000 tracks doesn’t go very far with all the super deluxe box sets coming out these days. Beatles anthology alone is 200 tracks! BTW not urgent but Minimwatch on Windows will still only run by pausing NordVPN.

RE: Recently added option - simoncn - 15-12-2025 16:19

I will get to the 1000 track limit when I have an opportunity. User support and bug fixing is taking priority at the moment.

What exactly happens when you use MinimWatch with NordVPN active?
