Yes - suspect it is a fault with the Melco device

RE: Melco and dac connections - simoncn - 03-04-2022 16:10

Is the DAC connected to the Melco via USB or to the network via a LAN cable?

Connected to the DAC (on a Mark Levinson 585 amp) via usb

My apologies, I had not realised this. It could be a problem with the physical USB connector (Neutrik) on the Melco. If this is the issue, you should be able to get music playing by connecting your DAC to one of the other USB sockets on the Melco.

Hi Simon

That is the strange thing - I have tried a different USB cable and confirmed the DAC on the amp is working with a laptop.
None of the USB connections on the rear of the Melco work - on the front screen of the Melco the L light (LAN) is illuminated but the P light (DAC) remains greyed out.

The P light is for the Player port (direct Ethernet connection to a player), not the DAC. The DAC is indicated by a symbol to the right of the P that looks like a USB socket.

The DAC light is off

It sounds like you are correct that it is a Melco device fault. Sad
