No, as I said I have 2 NAS. I first updated the older one with the QTS 4.4.2 firmware and left the newer one running untouched. When the update had finished the NAS rebooted and started services. The Minim Icon on Kinsky and Kazoo for the Minim instance on the updated NAS did not show up anymore, so I tried to look into Minim Watch to check. I got 2 messages: for he newer NAS I was notified that there was 2.0.12 available and I clicked "ok". For the other older NAS I got the red flag. From now on I am not sure about sequence anymore: I think after a short delay I also got the red flag for the newer NAS and I tried to fix it with updating firmware afterwards (no avail). Memories a bit unreliable: maybe but unlikely I first updated the 2nd NAS and got the red flag afterwards.. If the first is correct: it would indicate that the license error was not related to the firmware update, right?

Maybe this may help: I found out that on the new NAS I had been on Minim 2.0.10. On the old NAS I was on 2.0.11, no idea why. As you may assume from our earlier conversation I was in belief that Watch would invoke Minim upgrades but that is obviously not the case. I updated both instances manually to 2.0.12 then. Since both had been reset to "starter" after the red flag I had reactivated the license with code and e-mail before I updated to 2.0.12. Both kept the full license during the updates.

I wonder what the QNAP license manager is doing in all this. I have it installed and active but no clue what it actually does.

I don't think the QNAP license manager is involved in this situation.

I have had a previous report of a problem like this. It was reported on macOS but could possibly occur on any Unix-based or Linux-based system such as QNAP QTS. This problem was fixed in MinimServer 2.0.12 update 161. As you were running an older version of MinimServer 2 when the problem occurred, I think this could be the same problem.

Please make sure that both your QNAPs are updated to MinimServer 2.0.12 update 161 (or later). If you experience the problem again after doing this, please let me know.

Hi Simon,
today I lauched MinimWatch for a rescan of my libraries. I got notification that update 180 was available and if I wanted to update now I should press ok. So I did. The result: my license was expired (it is NOT) and it would be resetting to starter. Also Streamer was expired. I did not relaunch Minimserver yet, instead I logged into my QNAP and found there that I was still on a full license. I am afraid that if I stop/start Minimserver the reset to starter would occur. At present my system is working normally and Streamer appears still as installed in properties. My license is valid until April 29th, 2021.
I saved the log file and found the messages related to 180 update somewhere in the top section of the log file. I can send it if you wish.

MinimServer and MinimWatch should not show different information about this.

Which version of MinimWatch are you on? Where exactly did you see these messages about the license being expired? Any log information that you can post would be helpful.

Where do I see the Watch Version? But we can be asured it is the latest, I just installed it from scatch on January the 21st, 2021 after a total rebuild of my Windows PC.

I tried to attach the logfile, it gets rejected as "invalid type" I shall copy /paste the sections in question below:

I would like to add that the messages displayed during the install of 180 on my PC were slightly different than the log. In a first message window i definitely read "... expired ....resetting to starter". In a subsequent window I read I should do something about Minimstreamer... uninstall I believe.

Is it possible that my PC refresh of the OS and the subsequent reinstall of MinimWatch led to MinimWatch being launched with initial values in settings which were in conflict with the license information on the NAS?

Thanks very much for this log information.

From these log messages, it looks like there was an error caused by a bug in MinimServer during the installation of update 180. The log also shows that MinimServer has been able to recover from the problem. This is why your NAS is now showing MinimServer as having a full license.

I have found the cause of the original error and I will issue an update to fix it. You don't need to do anything now, just install update 181 when it is available. I will post back here to let you know. Thank you for letting me know about this problem.

RE: License Error 2:9255 6942 - simoncn - 27-01-2021 22:08

Update 181 is available now. I have installed it on a few devices without any problems.

RE: License Error 2:9255 6942 - simoncn - 27-01-2021 22:46

Part of the fix was accidentally omitted from update 181. I have added this in update 182. To get the complete fix, you can install update 182 after installing update 181 (if you have installed 181 already) or you can go straight to update 182 without installing 181.

Thank you Simon. Both QNAPs are on 182 now, installation flawless. Looks fine.

My license shall expire on April 29th, 2021. Can I extend it already now and how would I do that?
