RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - simoncn - 14-11-2017 13:08 You need to copy the file “audionas_ha_n1_updater.bin” to the USB stick without unzipping it. I'll maybe try a different stick. EDIT - Yes, that worked! Found an ancient 128MB one in the drawer, formatted it as EX-FAT, bingo! Weird... Thanks for your patience. RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - Peter@57m - 14-11-2017 21:30 I have used Simon’s method for turning off Twonky. I know this keeps Twonky off after a reboot and I think may stop is starting. Does the Melco method keep Twonky off after a reboot and stop it ever starting Is one method “better” ? Thanks, Peter RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - simoncn - 15-11-2017 10:06 Using the Melco front-panel setting is better because: 1) It stops Twonky immediately if it is running, without requiring a power cycle of the N1 2) It allows Twonky to be restarted at any time, without requiring a power cycle of the N1 3) It is simpler for users than needing to edit a text file 4) It is officially supported by Melco and doesn't require the use of undocumented interfaces that may change in future firmware releases I am planning to remove the MinimServer mechanism when most users have moved up to firmware level 3.70 or above. RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - Peter@57m - 16-11-2017 07:00 Thanks Simon. I will remove the edit from the options file. Edit: now done. Can confirm that Twonky stays off after a reboot of the Melco. Note the option to switch Twonky off is only in 3.71b and not 3.70 RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - GreenMtnGringo - 18-11-2017 15:54 As of November 18th, the Melco website home page reports as follows: News [IMPORTANT NOTICE] N1 firmware Ver. 3.70 and Ver. 3.71B downloads are temporarily unavailable. We will announce a new fixed firmware soon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and your kind understanding and cooperation would be much appreciated. RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - Peter@57m - 18-11-2017 16:56 I have the 3.71b installed. Wonder if its busily destroying my drive.... ![]() Notice that the Japanese site (Dela) has no warning RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - Melco Man - 03-03-2018 15:37 I have 3.72 and cannot seem to find the option to disable Twonky... RE: Latest Melco firmware allows Twonky switch off - simoncn - 03-03-2018 15:51 This option isn't there in 3.72. It is there in 3.73B. |
