Searching workarounds to Kinsky and Kazoo bugs - eseb63 - 16-06-2025 20:45

Hello,
I encounter a bug for each, but didn't find a solution and the Linn forum is closed : do others have the same problems or found a workaround ?

Kinsky (Windows version) : when playing an album or a work having movements, it stops after the first track : i have to request playing for each other track.

Kazoo (Windows version) : multiple spaces are discarded in the title to keep only one ; for example, with this displayFormat setting Title.displayFormat={$Title^$Movement_Rating^__________[^]__________ "$Movement_Art-Rating^__________(^)} spacing is ignored.

(i had to use "__________" instead of spaces because they are also discarded here)

any idea ?

Remark: i use Foobar2000 as renderer (with BubbleUpnp Server for Kazoo, to create an OpenHome renderer)

HTML will collapse multiple spaces so try replacing each with the html non-breaking space entity ' ' e.g.

Not pretty but it should work. You may be able to slim it down by alternating ' ' with space e.g. "       "

I use Upplay on Windows so I can't help with Kinsky I'm afraid.

thanks for the reply, but it doesn't work : " " is shown as litteral.

It looks like the handling differs by control point and element!

BubbleUPnP correctly renders multiple spaces, but displays " " as literals in all tags except for Comment, where it displays the contents as HTML (for which " " is required).

yes, Lumin App has no problem too

and for Linn products, Kazoo App handles multiple spaces correctly, but Kazoo for Windows doesn't...

The Braille Pattern Blank unicode character ('⠀') works in BubbleUPnP and Upplay: https://www.compart.com/en/unicode/U+2800

good news for Kinsky : i saw in this post that stopping playback after the first track was a regression introduced in version 4.3 ; i found here a 4.2.3 version and it works normally ; i don't find release notes for Kinsky : i hope this version doesn't contain other ennoying bugs.

I am runnng Kinsky 4.3.14 for Windows and I don't see this problem when playng to an OpenHome renderer. If the renderer is not OpenHome, playback stops after each track.

What is Kazoo Desktop as I can't find anything about it on the web?

I installed Linn Kazoo from the Microsoft Store and it rendered the unicode character correctly, equivalent to that of a space.

i use Foobar2000 foo_upnp plugin , with Bubbleupnp Server to create an openhome renderer but Kinsky desktop (last version) still stops playback after each track : 4.2.3 version works well with the same settings.
did you use another openHome software renderer ?
