Wrong artist displaying - sflaor - 14-04-2017 21:37 I'm not sure where the fault lies with this, so I figured I'd start here. I have a playlist with about 4,500 songs. I'm using the current version of MinimServer on my QNAP NAS and listening through Roku Media Player (an application for the Roku). The source material is all FLAC files from my own network, and all files have been generated and tagged through foobar2000. I purposely eliminated any entries in all artist fields other than "artist" ("album artist", "composer", etc.). Different software seems to treat these fields inconsistently, so I wanted to make sure "artist" was the only thing I cared about. When playing back through Roku Media Player, all songs that have "Greatest Hits" as the album title are showing the same artist, which happens to be the last artist I created FLAC files for with this album title. The rest of the song info is correct (song title, length, date, album art displayed). I'm not sure if this is happening with other album title conflicts, but you can imagine that "Greatest Hits" might come up rather often in a large library. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong in configuration. I looked through MinimServer documentation and didn't see anything related to my problem. RE: Wrong artist displaying - simoncn - 15-04-2017 06:40 MinimServer would not send the wrong artist to the control point. If you are sure that the tags are correct, this is likely to be a problem with the Roku software. RE: Wrong artist displaying - sflaor - 16-04-2017 19:20 Okay, thanks for the fast response. I wish there was a better app to use, but unfortunately they all seem to have their quirks and limitations. RE: Wrong artist displaying - simoncn - 16-04-2017 19:56 Can you try some other control point to confirm whether this is an issue with the Roku software? If you get this with another control point, I can do further investigation. All tracks with the album title "Greatest Hits" seem to be assigning an album artist of "Little Anthony & The Imperials" (I have Foobar2000 set up to group by Album Artist first, then fall back to Artist if Album Artist is empty). I don't believe I have a single track in the playlist where the Album Artist field isn't empty. I've attached a screen capture. RE: Wrong artist displaying - simoncn - 18-04-2017 09:56 Thanks for this additional information. Is the UPnP Browser Selection window showing the contents of the Mellow playlist? What do you use as your folder structure? Specifically, is the file "Hi De Ho (That Old Sweet Roll)" in a folder that contains only the 13 tracks from the Greatest Hits album by Blood, Sweat & Tears? No, all files in the playlist are in the same folder. This is the same folder that contains the 36710 items MinimServer listed above. RE: Wrong artist displaying - simoncn - 18-04-2017 17:55 I am trying to reproduce this problem. How can I set up foobar2000 to group by Album Artist first, then fall back to Artist if Album Artist is empty? RE: Wrong artist displaying - sflaor - 18-04-2017 19:29 I'm using the Columns UI installed component for my foobar2000 playlist display, and I'm pretty sure I set it up through that. I did it a long time ago, but I think I can track down what I changed. I guess the first thing to ask is whether you're using the Columns UI component or not. |
