Help Please with Cover Art - Budgie - 04-03-2017 19:51 Sorry to be dumb but I have read the several threads here on cover images and still cannot sort it myself. I have purchased some classical recordings which are only available as downloads. In each case I have downloaded the zip file and extracted the contents into a directory which is the name of the work. In addition to the flac music files there are jpg images of the cover art (and pdf file of booklet). These directories containing the music and jpg files are then copied to my NAS which is running minimserver. I am using Bubble DS as control app. On only one work is the cover art shown on my control point but all three recordings have cover art jpg files in the work directory. The only differences I can detect are the jpg file sizes. The artwork that is displayed is from a jpg file of about 270KiB. The other images are much larger, one being 1.7MiB and the other 2.5MiB. Could this be the cause and whatever it is, how can I get the artwork to display please? RE: Help Please with Cover Art - simoncn - 04-03-2017 22:18 What are the names of the art files? RE: Help Please with Cover Art - simoncn - 05-03-2017 08:20 The name of the file needs to exactly match the name of the album after removing any illegal filename characters (see this section). Serious respect. On the detail of my problem there are still related questions which I was going to ask anyhow. When tagging and saving ripped CDs where a work may be on 2 or 3 disks, I combine the tracks and renumber all in one directory which is essentially the name of the work but in the form eg:- Quote:Händel - Alcina ( Sutherland, Wunderlich - Ferdinand Leitner, Capella Coloniensis) Whilst this does not strictly conform with your recommendations for tagging classical music it does may file management simpler and if all else fails finding a work using folder view. This brings me to my questions. 1. Hi Simon, thanks for the link and thanks also for the serious amount of work you have put into the manual. Serious respect and all clear now. On the detail of my problem there are still related questions which I was going to ask anyhow. This brings me to my questions. 1. Do diacritical marks such as the umlaut above make a difference for cover file name? I assume they do. 2. Is the album title taken from the folder or the title as tagged. I assume the latter. If my assumptions are correct then all is as it should be but I have noticed that even in folder view using BubbleDS, this only works for the first level and once in a directory I do not get a folder view but a tag view. Interestingly I only recently noticed this but did not expect it. I had hoped to be able to drill down all in folder view. Do you have any thoughts before I take it up on BubbleDS forum? Best wishes and many thanks once more. RE: Help Please with Cover Art - simoncn - 05-03-2017 16:35 Diacritical marks do make a difference and the album name is taken from the ALBUM tag. The art file must be in the same folder as one of the tracks from the album. If you select [folder view] from the top-level menu, you can go down any number of folders. You will only get a tag view if you select >> Tag View. Perhaps some cache needed clearing. Meanwhile on album art all now good. A sneaky full stop after the etc. did cause one hiccup. Now I have things working do you have any suggestions for how to find album cover art for classical rips? Using Audex and Easytag but not having much luck finding artwork. Is there a separate database/search engine I can use? Thanks again, Budge RE: Help Please with Cover Art - simoncn - 05-03-2017 18:27 I add album art when ripping from CD using dBpoweramp CD Ripper. My downloads normally have album art included. RE: Help Please with Cover Art - magister - 06-03-2017 02:30 Just do an Internet search using whatever keywords or phrases will identify the specific album you are looking for. For example, something like "Vänskä Minnesota Orchestra Beethoven symphonies" — this way you don't get all the other sets of Beethoven that are out there. A search like this may take you to - the label's website - one of the sites that reviews classical CDs - general retailers like Amazon.com I have found art in all these places. In fact, you might be surprised at what obscure classical CDs are on Amazon. |
