What do you mean by "tried to start Java"?

It installed OK, and appeared in the installed listing, but only as "stopped". Anyway, a moot point now, as it just installed and ran perfectly with your new script update. Many thanks for your help.

Thanks for letting me know. FYI, the script is not provided by me but by "patters".
Installation perfect for me on Synology DS413J DSM 6.0.1-7393 Update 2.
Thanks for the clear installation instructions.
I am a happy bunny. Let us see how the minimserver installation goes now....
Hello,
this is my very first post to this forum so sorry if I made a mistake.
The reason I write is that I can't install Java SE Embedded 8 on my Diskstation; it is a DS213+ running DSM 6.0.2-8451 Update 1 and I struggle to install Java:
- I followed this site Install-synology and this thread
- I was able to create the 'public' folder required by the installer
- I can't find the necessary file 'ejdk-8u6-fcs-b23-linux-ppc-e500v2-12_jun_2014.tar.gz' as the address http://tinyurl.com/javaembed lead every browser I tried to an error mesage stating something like "to many redirects"
- I manually searched for the file 'ejdk-8u6-fcs-b23-linux-ppc-e500v2-12_jun_2014.tar.gz' but found only forum posts giving various locations for downloading. But none of those worked anymore
So how can I install Java to be able to use MinimServer on my DS231+?
Kind regards

If you type this string:
ejdk-8u6-fcs-b23-linux-ppc-e500v2-12_jun_2014.tar.gz
into a Google search, the first result is a page where you can download the file (after signing in with an Oracle account).
Hello,
thanks for the fast response but that's the link I also found and which I can't open successfully. The issue is that currently no browser is able to open
http://www.oracle.com. Maybe it is a problem on their site? The error message states something like "Too many redirects" and "circular redirects". So I think I will wait for a day or so and try again.

It is working for me. Can you open the oracle.com home page?

You might need to talk to your ISP about this. It sounds like there's a routing problem with your internet connection.
