Hallo,

I got a Problem with Upsampling and transcoding flac to 24wav or 32wav. After arround 32 Minuten (24) and arround 24 minutes the Music stops. But only Tracks wich are longer than 32 (24) minutes. For shorter tracks it works perfect. So I think there must be a memory problem. I‘m Running Minimserver/streamen on an Qnap.

The maximum length of a WAV file or stream is 4GB-1 bytes. Some renderers incorrectly use a maximum of 2GB-1 bytes. It sounds like you are running into this limit.

Is the file stereo or multichannel? What is the sample rate?
The file is Stereo. Original 16bit 44,1 kHz transcoded and upsampled to 24bit 192 kHz.
Runderer: Naim 272 and Naim Uniti lite
This means your renderer is incorrectly using a limit of 2GB-1 for WAV files. With this limit, the maximum length is 1824 seconds (30 minutes 24 seconds).

Simon replied to you,; myself had also the same issue: 7 tracks in my collection which, converted to 24/196, are above 4G. This creates an issue with ffmpeg, which does truncate the file.

What I did is convert everything to 24:96 except the 24/192 which I don't convert (no big track there)
This problem is not caused by FFmpeg. The 4GB size limit is part of the specification for the WAV file format. The problem is worse for the OP because his renderer is using a size limit of 2GB.
does the same problem apply when converting to L24? Maybe this sounds as good as wav with the naim devices? (At least with an old uniti and superuniti it was the case in my ears.)
There is no length limit when transcoding to L24 or L16.

If my memory is good, when I found the bug, I asked why is it that it is not the file up to 4G which is played, but the remaining residue minutes; and I remember you answering "this is a bug with ffmpeg, I will post on their forum".

But again, maybe my memory has reached it's 4G limit... Big Grin
