Hello you,
I have downloaded an album from Bleep.com in 24 bit wav - it’ll just not play via any control point I use. The end point is a Cyrus streamer & I've tried using the native Cyrus App & MConnect from an iPhone & have tried BubbleUPNP from a Fire tablet.

The Cyrus App simply says ‘invalid file type’ (The Cyrus website claims my streamer supports 24bit wav). MConnect & Bubbleupnp, do nothing, just freeze up.

I have downloaded the same album as .flac - plays fine via all control points.

Im running a QNAP Nas with MinimServer 2 Installed. I have MinimWatch installed on a laptop, but doesn’t suggest any error.

Thoughts welcome.

Thanks in advance
Is the FLAC version of the same album 24-bit or 16-bit?

Also, what is the name/model # of your Cyrus streamer?

And do you have any other 24-bit files you can try? If not, you can download some free/legal ones here:

http://www.2l.no/hires/
Is this a single large file for the whole album or separate files for each track? The WAV format doesn't support files larger than 4 GB.

There are number of ways a WAV file can be encoded. If the album has separate track files, please upload one of these files (smaller is better) to my FTP server and I will look at it. I will PM you the server details.

The other possibility is a format error in how the file is encoded, although MinimServer should have produced an error or warning mesage for this.

Hi, thanks for coming back. The FLAC version is 16-bit lossless. The Cyrus Streamer is the X2 model. This was my first foray into 24bit Wav, all else i stream is FLAC.

I'll take a look at that site.

best

I have downloaded 'CyberDuck' but says the Server timed out when i try to connect. The smallest of the 11 files is 53.2mb. Can i upload here?

thanks
Thanks for uploading the file. The internal format is corrupt and no program can read it.

If you look in the MinimServer log, you should see two warnings:

Warning: ID3v2 tag has invalid size 12599296 in file SIGN-008-Autechre-gr4.wav (length 53246678)
Warning: unable to complete reading ID3v2 tag data at offset 54 in file SIGN-008-Autechre-gr4.wav (length 53246678)

I've successfully played the wav24 files direct from my MAC using their QuickTime player directly from the MAC & into my Cyrus PreAmp using a USB connection. But, streaming the files are sill flagged as an invalid file type. Maybe the streamer cannot process the files..
