Hi Simon. On the Melco Audio webpage, the following appears in the description of Beta firmware v3.92B (released Jan. 30, 2020):

'MinimServer' requires internet connection for initial installation.

MinimServer version installed is MinimServer 2 Starter Edition (free version with limited functionality, paid upgrade available).

Will installing v3.92B and eventual v3.92 affect existing MinimServer v0.8 installs? Thanks.
An existing MinimServer 0.8 installation will continue to run after updating to 3.92b or 3.92 but some of the new front panel menus will not be fully functional because they were designed to integrate with MinimServer 2.
Thanks, Simon, good to know.

EDIT: Sorry, I started this thread without having read the latest posts in the "Announcing MinimServer 2" thread. I see now in that thread that a full version of MinimServer 2 is available for the Melco N1x/1 (I did not want to switch to a 'starter' version of MS2). I will await Melco's release of the final (non-beta) version of FW v3.92 and then upgrade to MS2. Thanks.
Does anyone know of an online guide or tutorial on how to install beta firmware on a Melco N1x/1? I checked the Melco website and did not see one. Thanks.
It is described in the Software Manual (download from this page). See Updating the Firmware > Updating from the USB Device.
Hi Simon, I see it now, thanks.
As a MinimServer user, you should also read what it says on this page before you do the update.
Great info, thanks Simon. Do you anticipate that the eventual over-the-air Melco firmware update from v3.92B to v3.92 will be seamless? I am interested to try MS2, but I have never done a Melco beta firmware update before.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by seamless. The final 3.92 should be very close to the beta. There are some changes from 3.91 (see the release notes for the beta for more information) and these changes will also be in the final 3.92.
In other words, is it just as easy/idiot-proof to update a Melco from v3.92B to v3.92 (final) as it would be to update from v3.91 (final) to v3.92 (final)?

EDIT: Melco FW v3.92B and MS2 v2.0.5 installed! Easy stuff, following Simon's instructions.

Thanks.
