Full Version: Repeated "Streamer not responding" messages on iPad after the music suddenly stops

Hi,

I've been using MinimServer (latest version) on my Synology 214 Play NAS with my Naim NDX and my iPad 3 running iOS 8, (using the last version of the old "n_Stream" app, as I don't like the new version), with complete success for most of the last year. During the last couple of months (approx) I have been losing connections at random times for no apparent reason. One minute it is playing fine, but then it suddenly stops (mid song) and the iPad displays the "Streamer not responding" message, with the "Try again" or "Set Up" choice provided - neither cause it to find it.

When I then open Synology Diskstation (latest version) on my iMac, it shows MinimServer as "Running" and rescan works with MinimWatch, but to no benefit (it goes yellow and rescans but doesn't appear on the iPad afterwards). Repeated restarting of everything usually gets the connection back eventually, but this issue is becoming a fairly frequent problem. Can you advise please?

NOTE: I have just looked through some other threads and noted one point which applies to me. I had my Virgin Media Superhub 2 set to the 5GHz Wi-Fi only, until about 2 weeks ago when I activated the 2.4GHz one as well, as my new mobile phone doesn't work with the 5GHz setting. However, this has only been for a couple of weeks and the problem begun prior to that.

The "Streamer not responding" message indicates there's a network problem affecting connectivity to the Naim NDX. This might be related to how your Virgin Super Hub is configured or something else in your network. Doing a MinimServer restart or rescan won't help with this because it isn't MinimServer that is causing the problem. I think your best option is to contact Naim technical support for advice.
