I have installed the MinimServer package (with all upgrades 8.1.34) 4 times on my Synology DS 713 (DSM 5.0 latest version) using the included MiminServer package and received numerous (over 150 pages) "Error: format error in WAV file" errors during the scan. Some of the files for an album load without problems while many others don't.
All of these files play just fine on my PC using JRiver and while streaming to my main rig using Synology's media server. I read the support forum for this problem and didn't see a fix.
Any help will be appreciated.

This message means the form size in the RIFF chunk at the start of the file is incorrect. The form size should equal the total size of the subsequent chunks in the file. If the form size is smaller than the total chunk size, MinimServer reports this error and ignores the faulty file.
Which ripping program did you use to create these WAV files?

I used JRiver for 95% of the ripped CDs and am slowly redoing the remain 5% which were done using Windows Media Player a good number are downloads (HDTracks, etc). The main problem is that these don't occur for an entire album sometimes only one track.

Are the WAV files that produce this message larger than 2GB?
I've looked at the code in MinimServer that does this check and it might not work correctly if the form size is greater than 2GB.

Please upload one of these tracks to my FTP server so that I can check the file format. I will PM you the server details now.
I've had the same problem with WAV files for an album that I downloaded from the publisher. 9 of the 13 tracks in the album generate the error message in the Minim log. I converted them to FLAC when I got them because I wanted to add metadata, so I haven't worried about it, and I figured the files couldn't be too defective because the FLAC conversion went OK and the FLACs play without complaint. But when I saw this thread I remembered the issue. All WAV tracks are much less than 1GB.

Do you still have the original WAV files? If so, please upload one of them to my FTP server. Thanks!

Hi, just for information I'm running MinimServer on my Synology DS213+ and all my music, standard and HD are all ripped to WAV. No errors reported and they all play wonderfully.
I used iMac and XLD for ripping. Metadatics to add tags, etc... I know it's a slightly different setup to yours but just to let you know there should be no issues with WAV.
I hope you manage to resolve the issue.

Hi Simon,
I just saw this reply. I'll be happy to upload a file, but it looks like update 35 has fixed the problem. I just looked at the log and the error message about those tracks is now gone. Let me know if you still need one of these files.

Update 35 fixed a crash when the network adapter is disabled. It didn't contain any other changes. The code that reads WAV files hasn't changed since December 2013, so it's unlikely that the problem was fixed by an earlier update. Thanks for the offer to upload a file, but there is no point uploading a file that doesn't produce an error message.
