I'm just wondering whether it is possible to make MinimServer ignore embedded album art stored in individual track files, forcing it to use the separate folder.jpg version included within the album folder on the NAS?

No, this isn't possible. You would need to remove the embedded artwork using a tagging program.

Thanks for the reply Simon. Can you recommend a good one for this using a Mac at all? I have ripped the CDs with XLD and have transcoded about a third of the rips again without album art from those ripped files, but note that in a few cases it reorders the track list alphabetically based on the artists and ignores the 'built in' track number order (this only affects albums with multiple artists, so not many). Also the pre gaps on the cue sheets all become zero, though the track length seems to stay the same.

I have heard that Metadatics is a good tagging program for the Mac.
If you're not seeing the track list ordered by track number, this suggests that your TRACKNUMBER tags may be missing or incorrect.
