Play folder by ordered filename - possible ?
Hello from a newcommer.

New to this fine musicserver (compared to other options)
BUT as I have been using Logitech Squezzebox for years my whole
music collection is built not on 'tags' (which by the way are often completely nonsens or missing regarding classical CD's) but on finely specified filenames :-)

So how do I play a 'folder' ordered by filename and NOT any tag ?
And how do I display the filename in the folder and not the 'title' tag ?

My big nightmare is to have to update 'tag' values for 800 CD's

greetings
Jens Ulrik

MinimServer is designed to work with the information in your file tags, so it doesn't do very well at handling files with incorrect tags.

You can make MinimServer use your filenames as track titles by removing all Title tags from your files. This will cause the filenames to be displayed when viewing the contents of a folder.

After doing this, if you also remove all TrackNumber tags, DiscNumber tags and Album tags from your files, the files in each folder will be sorted in order of their titles (i.e., filenames).

Another option is to use Mp3tag to add tags to your files based on your filenames. This might be a simple way to get some basic tagging in place.

Using Mp3tag, you actually can do this with one single command

In Minimwatch I did this -->
I used the tag-alias option to set the mentioned tag's = 'nil' - and that produced the desired result. What a relief :-)

Newbie here. I'm in the same boat; is the format "nil:title" or "title:nil"?

Thanks,
dpm
