Minimserver plugin for Volumio
Hello Simon,

I was trying to install Minimserver on the Linux volumio installation. Basically I want to use just one sbc for both minimserver and volumio.

1.Logged in with ssh as volumio user.
2.Installed default jre as per installation instruction.
3.Installed minimserver and enabled autostart
4.The process simply gets muted at the minimserver/bin/startc step.
No command prompt is shown to capture the audio directory path. This is a headless installation.
5.with minimwatch installed the ip:port url does not bring up anything. Possibly implying that minimwatch/minimserver are not running.

Hardware - Khadas vim3, volumio installed (Debian Jessie 8)

Although this post seems better suited for volumio forum but the thread over there died silently . Hoping to get a solution from the master himself.
A minimserver plugin for volumio would be just awesome!!!

Please feel free to delete the post, if deemed unsuitable for the forum. Thank you!

RE: Minimserver plugin for Volumio
What exactly happens when you type minimserver/bin/startc into a terminal window?

The cursor moves to the next line and keeps blinking. I installed xrdp in volumio. And am using terminal window after connecting via windows remote desktop connection.

There is no direct way to access terminal or the desktop on the GUI of volumio.

Edit:1:
The other thread for your reference.

There might be some information in the minimserver/data/minimserver.log file. If MinimServer has started, there should be some output there.

I noticed on the other thread that you have installed Java in a nonstandard location. Have you modified your PATH setting to include this location?

Found another thread with a similar problem.

I shall try with 32 bit version and update. Thanks!

EDIT: Running successfully now Big Grin. It was a rookie mistake, Volumio is a 32bit implementation.

Just another question how do I set these parameters from CLI :
mimeType.dsf=audio/x-dsf; mimeType.dff=audio/x-dff

RE: Minimserver plugin for Volumio
The command interface is described in this section. The command for this is:

prop mimeType.dsf=audio/x-dsf; mimeType.dff=audio/x-dff

I will look into the "relaunching" loop after the linux-arm64 error. This should not be happening. Instead, MinimServer should exit with an error message.

Your version of Java (IcedTea Zero) is very slow because it has no JIT (just-in-time compiler). If you can update to a better version, you will see a big improvement in MinimServer performance. Which ARM processor do you have in your system?

Thank you for the guidance. Lil more help needed. Getting error on prop setting. Maybe I am wrongly typing the command.

volumio@volumio:/home/minim-home$ minimserver/bin/startc

RE: Minimserver plugin for Volumio
Apologies, this is part of serverOptions so the command is:

prop serverOptions=mimeType.dsf=audio/x-dsf, mimeType.dff=audio/x-dff

Note the comma rather than semicolon after x-dsf.

I see there is an error message about startupScan. Have you tried to change the value of this property?

This version of Java is fine.
