Announcing MinimServer 2

I understand why this choice of initial platform might seem surprising. There are various factors that have led to this order of rollout on the various platforms that are supported by MinimServer.

A lot of work has been (and still is) needed to create the new version of MinimServer and make it work correctly on all currently supported platforms. Releasing it simultaneously for all platforms would be a huge undertaking and I think it is preferable to release it for each platform when it is ready so that users on that platform can access it sooner.

Regarding the choice of initial platform, I have tested the new functionality as much as possible but some unexpected issues are likely to arise when this is exposed to real users. For example, the the new licensing scheme is designed to be simple to use but involves a lot of complexity "under the covers". Starting with a platform that has few variations and a relatively small number of users gives me the opportunity to address any such issues in a controlled and orderly way.

There was also a specific window of opportunity to make MinimServer 2 part of the new Melco Intelligent Music Library product. In my view, it was important to take this opportunity.

After MinimServer 2 has been released for all platforms, it is my intention to make future updates available for all platforms at the same time, as I have done for previous MinimServer releases.
