Synology DSM 4.2 is incompatible with MinimServer
MinimServer users should hold off from installing Synology DSM 4.2 because of a reported compatibility issue with the MinimServer installation package.

I'll provide an update when there is some information about a solution for this problem.

The problem does not appear with 4.2 beta, but with the official DSM 4.2 available since a few days. To be more specific, the problem will only arise when installing or upgrading MinimServer in combination witth the official DSM 4.2.
However, there should be a fix available soon.

Hi, even though this should work I recommend to wait for the official fix. If something goes wrong, you aren't able to downgrade the DSM and you would then have to get along without MinimServer till the fix is available Confused.

RE: Synology DSM 4.2 is incompatible with MinimServer
Hmmm. Not sure what the reported incompatibility is. Last night, I updated my 411+ to the latest DSM 4.2 [build 3202], and then proceeded to install MinimServer. I ran into a small snag when setting up PC Load Letter's Java support, but after that, all went well, and the server seems very solid.

I probably would not have tried, if I had read this first, but I didn't! All good so far.

RE: Synology DSM 4.2 is incompatible with MinimServer
I've replaced the 0.63.3 installation package with a 0.63.4 version. This should fix the problem.

Some people have found that installing or updating MinimServer on DSM 4.2 (final release version) fails. If you have an existing MinimServer installation and you update your NAS to DSM 4.2, that works OK.

If you currently have 0.63.3 installed and working OK, there's no need to replace it by 0.63.4. The MinimServer code is identical in both versions.

RE: Synology DSM 4.2 is incompatible with MinimServer
I've installed the 0.63.4 version but it gives this error message:

starting MinimServer
HTTPService: error creating server socket: Address already in use
MinimServer error: now stopped, use 'restart' or 'exit'

I had installed MinimServer 0.63.3 on DSM 4.1 and upgraded to DSM 4.2 with the new java manager.

I had installed MinimServer 0.63.3 on DSM 4.1 and upgraded to DSM 4.2 with the new java manager.

This means you already have another instance of MinimServer running on the NAS, using the same port. It sounds like you already had 0.63.3 installed and running, and for some reason 0.63.4 did not replace 0.63.3 but attempted to install a separate new instance. Please uninstall all versions of MinimServer and then start again from scratch by installing 0.63.4.

For the benefit of other users: As I said in my previous post, if you currently have 0.63.3 installed and working OK, there's no need to replace it by 0.63.4. The MinimServer code is identical in both versions.
