RE: Oracle/Java site down
Just search for the filename and you will get alternative download locations:
https://www.google.no/search?q=jre-9.0.4...-xX5f_pZgO

...or, if you can, try this:

http://www.fileconvoy.com/dfl.php?id=gf8...ce3a282c62

(I've just downloaded/uploaded the Windows Exe. It should give you a download option. I've used this site before to deliver files, and it should be safe - available for two days.)

Indeed, such as the BT (not so) Smart Hub's DNS server settings - often found BT's own DNS servers to cause such issues!

Definitely worth a try swapping those BT supplied DNS server IP settings for reliable OpenDNS's, at least until they've sorted the problem out - I'm guessing it's not just the Java site you're having problems with:
Preferred 208.67.222.222
Alternate 208.67.220.220

RE: Oracle/Java site down
Thank you very much everyone for the help, I will try both dns servers to see which serves me best , I use the google servers on both my Qnap nases.

Yes you are correct, I have been having lots of internet issues so a dns change is on the menu for the morning as I’m off work.

Thanks to all once again

RE: Oracle/Java site down
Udate;

So I choose a new DNS service, the one that BT was using on my router was easyDNS.

Downloaded Java no problem, however minimwatch install fails with the following message and this is after I have installed java and removed the previous failed version on minim watch from programs

"unable to install java"

there are errors in the following switches
c\program files\minimwatch\lib\minimwatch.jar

check that files are valid

RE: Oracle/Java site down
MinimWatch doesn't contain a file named c\program files\minimwatch\lib\minimwatch.jar and I have never seen any of these errors.

How did you download MinimWatch and how are you trying to install it?

from your web site, the minimwatch folder for windows,
minimwatch uses its wizard to install and after I press finish up pops a java window something like runtime 8 environment, so I install it thinking its part of your install process. I will try it again and refuse the request from java to istall and report back
