Minimserver Tray Icon unresponsive
Hi all,
I am running:
Lenovo workstation 16 GB Memory 1 TB SSD
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Version 1709
MinimServer 0.8.4 update 108 running on this machine
Music files on on the same machine, local library
I can see and play the files using any of my control points

I can see the MinimServer icon in the system tray.
When I hover my mouse over the icon is tells me MinimServer is running.
If I right click the icon nothing happens.
I can right click other icons in the system tray and dialogue boxes open as expected.

Since I cannot right click the icon to open a dialogue, I can not open the log, rescan or close MinimServer for a restart.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any ideas on how to fix the icon so it responds to the right click.

Thanks,
Chip

Update 01
I can start MinimWatch another laptop and the dialog box opens when I right click the tray icon.

RE: Minimserver Tray Icon unresponsive
This might be caused by an internal deadlock in MinimServer. Try using MinimWatch on the other machine to open the Properties window and do a Relaunch from the Packages tab. If MinimServer is deadlocked, this will probably produce a thread dump file and an hprof file. Please attach the thread dump file to a post here. Many thanks.

After you have produced the thread dump, you should be able to start MinimServer again from the desktop launch icon.

Hi Simon,
Now the MinimWatch icon on the laptop is also not responding.
How can I stop MinimServer and MinimWatch when the icon does not respond?
Chip

RE: Minimserver Tray Icon unresponsive
Please do the following:

1) Open a Command Prompt window

2) Type the command:
"C:\Program Files\MinimServer\bin\mscript" -i
just as shown, including the quotes.

3) You should see a message: Enter commands (null line to terminate):

4) Type:
relaunch
and press the return key. This should stop MinimServer and should produce a thread dump file in the folder C:\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\MinimServer\data.

5) Please save the thread dump file as I would like to see it to help me understand what has happened to cause this problem.

Many thanks.

RE: Minimserver Tray Icon unresponsive
Hi Simon,
Restarted my laptop and restarted MinimWatch.
Now the icon is responsive.
Right click icon in system tray > Properties > Packages > Relaunch
Now I have a failure on the Windows machine running MinimServer.
Relaunch failed: see ... and ...
The error messages points to a .hprof and .log file.
When I try to attach the .hprof file I get an error that the file type is not allowed.
I have zipped the files and attached the zip file.
Ouch, the zip file is now too large.
The zip file is 2,394 KB and the maximum size is 1024 KB.
I can not seem to find a way to attach the .hprof file, it is always too big.
Finally remembered something we did before and it still seems to work. I hope it is OK. Files are on server.

After clicking OK to the error I restarted MinimServer and now the icon is responsive on the machine running MinimServer
Thanks,
Chip

RE: Minimserver Tray Icon unresponsive
Thanks very much for sending these files.

From the thread dump, it looks like MinimServer was showing a file chooser dialog, perhaps as a prompt for you to select a contentDir folder. The file chooser dialog might have been underneath some other window so that you weren't aware it was waiting for input. There is no evidence of an internal MinimServer deadlock.

RE: Minimserver Tray Icon unresponsive
Hi Simon,
This morning I updated to 109 and received the same error dialog and reference to files on my Windows 10 machine after accepting the update and allowing the relaunch.
I clicked OK on the error dialogue and restated MinimServer from the desktop icon and it works.
This time I am sure I did not have any other programs running on my music library workstation.
The contentDir parameter is filled in and I have not made any changes to it recently other than adding more music files.
When I use a control point I can see all the files I expect.
It seems I may have an unusual problem.
Any ideas?
Would you like me to send you the latest .hprof and .log files?
Thanks,
Chip

Please do send the files. This is puzzling and I would like to get to the bottom of it. Were you running update 108 before you updated to 109?

I was running 108 before the update to 109.
The RELAUNCH after updating to 109 seemed to cause the error.
I have added the files to the same location with the timestamp:
20171203-111747
At this time the system tray icons are responsive.

RE: Minimserver Tray Icon unresponsive
Thanks for sending these files. I have looked at them and it isn't exactly the same problem as previously. To fix it, you need to install MinimServer 0.8.4.7 from this page and make sure you are on update level 105 or later.
