Album art recommendations
Hello,

I'm curious if there is a recommended or preferred method of adding album art to music collections?

I currently use a folder.jpg file in the same folder as my .flac music files for that album. I think embedding the image in every file for the same album is wasteful especially if the images are large.

Also wondering what resolution images people are using, i.e. 1000x1000px, etc. I currently use 400x400 but have a feeling that those images might look blurry in BubbleUPnP once I get my server up and running properly.

Thanks!

I do not embed any images in the files. I use a cover.jpg inside each album with at least 1000x1000px image size. 400x400 will probably work on the Nexus 7 but if you can get better quality, why not?

Yes, you're right bigger is better if you can find a good quality image of the cover.

Thanks for the reply!

RE: Album art recommendations
Just curious why no embedded artwork. The ripping software I use (dbpoweramp) automatically does this, and most downloads also have embedded artwork. I use both embedded artwork and a folder.jpg image file for the album folder. I try to get album art at least 500x500, but bigger is better.

I guess as a computer programmer it seems inefficient to have the same image embedded in multiple files when one can suffice at the folder level.

RE: Album art recommendations
I use Album Art Downloader to search out album art at various resolutions. You can save it as folder.jpg or save it embedded or both. Has worked very well for me

https://sourceforge.net/projects/album-art/

Google Images is a great place to find covers. Example:

Love Google image search, usually finds at least one image for even the most obscure albums.

Just like Hi-Res doesn't sound always better, large pictures don't look always better.
