CPU at ca. 40% while RAM stays around 60% utilization during rescan, ca. every 5 minutes 2-3 KB/s swap.

HDs are actually WD20EARX @5400rpm. Probably a combination of a slow NAS + slow drives.

NP - thx for looking into this! Need to upgrade the HDs anyways and will see if faster drives make any difference.

It is also probably worth updating the NAS to a later model based on an ARMv7 or Intel processor. Your model is ARMv5.
