Two versions of MinimServer

I have two music systems, each with their own storage and each running MinimServer. They are both on the same network.

Using a Windows laptop which is running MinimWatch, I can see one instance of MinimServer, but not the other.

When I first installed the new system, there were two MinimWatch icons on my laptop, and I could see both systems. Now (a week later) there is only one...

I have looked through these sections, but have not been able to resolve the problem. I have isolated the new music system on the network but MinimWatch, run on a networked laptop, fails to see the old music server/library and the icon remains resolutely blue.

In addition, I have logged in remotely to the PC running the original music system (with which I am having the problem). MinimServer appears to be running correctly on the PC, and Kazoo, also run remotely, can see the music library and its contents. However, when I attempt to play an album, the Linn streamer shows each track in its display in turn, but seems unable to play it.

Thanks for this additional information. Here are some more suggestions:

1) Try completely disabling the firewall on the PC running the original music system.

2) Make sure that the PC running the original music system is using only one network adapter (either wired or wireless) and that the IP address on this adapter has the same subnet as the IP address of the Linn streamer.

I am using only one network adapter (wired) but I am not sure how to ensure that the IP address on this adapter has the same subnet as the IP address of the Linn streamer.

To check the IP address of the PC wired network adapter, open a command window and type the command:

ipconfig /all

The output should contain something like the following:

The value for IPv4 Address is the IP address of the wired network adapter.

To check the IP address of the Linn streamer, use Linn Konfig.

These two IP addresses should have the first three numbers (192.168.0 in my case) the same. This is the subnet prortion of the address.

Yes - both on the PC containing the music library and on the laptop.

OK, so to recap:

1) MinimWatch running on your laptop can't see MinimServer on your PC
2) Kazoo running on ??? can see and browse MinimServer on your PC
3) The Linn streamer can't play files from MinimServer on your PC

Can you try:

4) Kinsky running on your laptop

Can this see and browse MinimServer on your PC?

Also, how are your laptop and ??? connected to your PC (wireless, wired, router, switches, cables, homeplugs, etc.)?
