MinimServer cutting out on iMac
Three times this evening I've been listening to music on my Yamaha WXC-50 and it has just stopped. Stopping and then restarting MinimServer doesn't solve the problem. Existing MinimServer and relaunching it does.
Here are a few system details:
I'd really appreciate some help troubleshooting this. Thanks Philip |

RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
Are there any messages in the MinimServer log when it stops? To show the MinimServer log, click the minim icon in the iMac menu bar and select 'Show log'.
Is your music library located on a local drive on the iMac or on a network share? |

RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
Thank you for getting back to me. I'm now hitting a complete blank. Can't play anything from the server (radio works okay, so I don't think it's a network issue). I've tried restarting my iMac, restarting my router (DHCP server) and reinstalling the Yamaha app on my iPhone. None of these steps seems to help.
So I've exited and relaunched MinimServer and tried (unsuccessfully) to play a track. I've copied and pasted the log (info level) below. I hope this might give you some clues. My music library is located on my iMac. Best wishes Philip MinimServer 0.8.4 update 96, Copyright © 2012-2017 Simon Nash. All rights reserved. RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
The log shows browsing activity by the control point but no attempt by the renderer (WXC-50) to play a track. Can you try powering the renderer off and on?

RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
I've tried not only powering the renderer off but doing a complete reset on it. I still can't play any music at all.
I'd like to send you a document containing a transcript of a longer log but I can't see a way of doing so. Best wishes Philip |

RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
To send a longer log, click 'Save as' from the log window to save the log file, then zip the log file (this is important because it reduces its size very considerably), then attach the zipped log file as a file attachment to a post here (using New Attachment and Add Attachment). Don't attempt to copy the log data directly into a post because this is hard to read and it will be truncated.

RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
I've now tried uninstalling and reinstalling MinimServer. Still no joy. It will work for one track and then beams out. I can't understand why it seemed to be working fine and then it stopped. I'd really appreciate some suggestions.
Best wishes Philip |

RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
This seems like a change to the previous symptoms (can't play music at all).
Did you see my previous post about how to send a log file? Please do the following: 1) In the log window, set the logging level to Debug 2) Leave the log window open 3) Try to play a complete album 4) After the first track ends and the second track is not played, click 'Save as' to save a log file 5) Zip the log file (this is important because it reduces its size very considerably). I need to see the complete log file, not an extract from it. 6) Attach the zipped log file as a file attachment to a post here (using New Attachment and Add Attachment). Don't attempt to copy the log data directly into a post because this is hard to read and the log data will be truncated. |

RE: MinimServer cutting out on iMac
For some reason I didn't see your earlier posting about sending a longer log. Hopefully it won't be necessary because after a lot of troubleshooting I think I've found the cause of the problem – the Energy Saving settings on my iMac. Even though the screen remained on, giving the impression that it was still active, I think that while I was downstairs listening to music, the system was going to sleep. Now that I've set it never to sleep, all seems to be okay. I'll let you know if this changes but right now I'm cautiously confident that all's working as it should. Thank you for your help.
Best wishes Philip |
