Please recommend a renderer for iPad
I use MinimServer as my server, and Kazoo on the iPad as my control point when playing music on my Linn streamer.
Sometimes, however, I want to listen to music direct from the iPad via headphones. So I need an app that combines both control point and renderer. I have tried several over the years and found them all to be 'flaky' in one way or another. Can any one on here recommend anything? Jim. |

PlugPlayer should do the trick.

If by any chance you have a Synology, I recommend the DS Audio app. I use it worlwide, as my Synology can be seen on the Internet. Very good one.

DS Audio is not a UPnP control point. It can only play files directly from the file system of the Synology NAS. This means you can't use the Intelligent Browsing features of MinimServer to select and play music. |

RE: Please recommend a renderer for iPad
I am currently using VLC on an iPad 4th Gen. Intrigued by your question, I only started using it a few minutes ago so not sure about any advantages/disadvantages yet.
Others may have more experience. /Peter PS. My music is stored in FLAC and MinimStreamer is configured to transcode to WAV |

Foobar2000 Mobile Edition (1.0.55) also seems to be working for me.
Again, experience very limited and I have not tested everything ... Hope it helps. /Peter |

Thanks to everyone who responded.
I already use Foobar on my PCs but wasn't aware there was an iPad version. Have just downloaded and installed it. First impressions are good. Will try it more extensively over the next few weeks. Jim. Linn KDS/1, Linn KK/1, Bryston 4B SST2, JBL 4365. |

Very good one. Simon, yes it is not a UPnP control point. But if one structures his/her library in a proper manner, with a very clean tree structure (which I did), then there is less need for Intelligent browsing features. When I am in mobility, I can tell that DS Audio app does a very good job. |
