Transcode advice
I have been using Mininserver on my Synology with Lumin server for a while and been quite happy. Recently I purchased a Korg DS-DAC-10R to rip vinyl. It supports ripping up to DSD128 or 24/196. I am thinking I should rip at the highest resolution possible since storage is cheap. My dilemma is that the Lumin A1 only supports DSD64 or up to 24/352.
With Minimstreamer can I transcode DSD128 to 24/352 or just downsample to DSD64? Thanks for the insight

RE: Transcode advice
MinimStreamer can transcode DSD128 (in DSF format) to PCM WAV 24/352 but it cannot downsample DSD128 to DSD64.

Simon,
Thanks for the quick reply. In the case of transcoding to DSD128 to WAV 24/352, would that end up transcoding all DSF files (DSD64 and DSD128) to WAV 24/352? Thanks

Yes, it would. In a future version of MinimStreamer, it might be possible to apply transcoding to one of these without also applying it to the other.

RE: Transcode advice
I put the following statement in the transcode field on the System Tab from Minimwatch:
def:L24;384

I then restarted Minimserver just to be safe. When I selected a DSF file to play on the Lumin it did not get transcoded. It showed up on the Lumin as DSF. Is my statement correct? Do I need to do something else to enable transcoding? Thanks

Did you put 'def' or 'dsf'?

You might need to do a library rescan in the LUMIN app to pick up this change.

Is there some reason why you used L24 instead of wav24?

RE: Transcode advice
Simon,
I did have DSF...I switched to wav24 and rescanned. Now it is working perfectly. Thank you.

RE: Transcode advice
Simon,
I wanted to check back and see if it was possible yet to transcode only DSD128 to PCM 24/384 and NOT transcode DSD64? I know you said it might be a future capability. My issue is that I am ripping vinyl at DSD128 which my Lumin A1 cannot decode so I am transcoding to 24/384, but I need at least a 6db boost in output. The DSD files I have on my Synology are typically downloads or ripped SACDs which typically do not need the 6db boost. Thanks for all your support.

This capability is now available. For details, see the Input type filters section of the User guide.
