QNAP installation options
Hi,

I see there is a MinimServer app available on the QNAP apps pages and would appreciated some advice and guidance re installation options before downloading it.

(a) I’m using a 2 bay QNAP TS-269L NAS. The download options presented in the QNAP app centre are: X86; ARM; TS-X31; TS-X31+. Can you please confirm which is the correct option to choose. Thanks.

(b) The installation instructions listed on your website state that the MinimServer requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to be installed before you can install and run MinimServer app. There is no reference to this pre-requirement on the QNAP site, so can you please confirm that the pre-installation of JRE is necessary prior to downloading the version of the MinimServer app currently available on the QNAP site. If JRE is required, the version available in the QNAP app centre is V8.6.0. Is this the correct version?

Many thanks for your help.

RE: QNAP installation options
You should use the X86 package for the QNAP TS-269L

Yes Java must be installed first and use the latest version in the QNAP store V8.6.0

Post back with any issues

You shouldn't need to make this choice yourself. The App Center window on your NAS should have a MinimServer icon that you can click on to automatically install the correct version for your NAS.

If you install MinimServer from the App Center window on your NAS (rather than by manual download and install), the App Center will automatically install Java as part of MinimServer installation. I don't think this will happen if you do a manual download and install. The App Center won't tell you that it's installing Java but will leave the App Center window "hanging" for a few minutes while this happens. If you wait patiently, it should complete eventually. The user experience of this process leaves a lot to be desired and this is why the MinimServer instructions recommend preinstalling Java.

Many thanks Peter, will give it a try.
