Minimserver hangs after a while
Hi,

I have just got myself a Linn Majik DS. I have installed Minimserver (with the Minimstreamer module) on a QNAP T112P NAS and when I play music Minimserver stops after 1-2 hours and the NAS freezes. The log shows the following error that I copied below.

Do you have any suggestions to make it work together?

HTTPService: socket thread caught exception: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread
at java.lang.Thread.start0(Native Method)
at java.lang.Thread.start(Thread.java:714)
at org.jminim.lib.HTTPConnection.start(HTTPConnection.java:57)
at org.jminim.lib.HTTPService$SocketThread.run(HTTPService.java:375)

Thanks!

Kind regards,
Gerald

It looks like something may be opening a very large number of HTTP connections and causing MinimServer to run out of memory. Which control point are you using?

To capture more information about the cause of the problem, please set the resourceInfo property to 1000 using MinimWatch. When MinimServer runs out of memory, copy the minimserver.log file from the Public share of the NAS to another computer, then zip this file and attach it to a post here. Many thanks!

RE: Minimserver hangs after a while
Thanks for you reply.
I use Linn Kazoo to play my music (if that is what you mean with control point) and I run Minimwatch on a MacBook pro.
I will try to set the resource info property to 1000 and let you know how things are going.

Gerald

This isn't the correct log file. The file I need is named minimserver.log. You need to copy this file before restarting MinimServer because restarting MinimServer causes the minimserver.log file to be overwritten.

RE: Minimserver hangs after a while
After a crash I was unable the retrieve the log file since I could not access the NAS anymore. Because Minimserver automatically starts during reboot of the NAS, the log file gets overwritten.

It seems that I have found the issue. I noticed that I only get the crashes when I use the Download station on the NAS and listen to music (and running Minimserver) at the same time. Knowing this solves the issue for me at the moment.

Thanks for your support.

I think this means Download Station is using a very large amount of RAM and isn't leaving enough free RAM for MinimServer to run. You can confirm this by running Resource Monitor on the QNAP desktop and observing the total RAM used and which processes are using the most RAM.
