RE: MinimServer 0.8.1 is now available
Hi,

0.8.1 version does not install on the Syno 213+ (clean install). When i try to install the package manually i get the message that Port 9790 is reserved by an appliacation or the system itself. This aborts the installation.

Ok solved problem, when i reboot the system after deinstallation of 0.7xx, the following installation 0.8.1 went fine.

It is not required nor recommended to uninstall MinimServer before installing a new version on the Synology. If you do so, you might have to wait a few minutes till the corresponding port is freed.

This can normally be resolved by waiting a minute or two for the port's connections to close. In some cases, it can require a reboot, as you have discovered. I'll add a note about this to the Synology installation instructions.

I try installing the new version on my current Ubuntu setup where the 0.7 versions works well. When I try to start the setup script as stated on the website, I get the following error: Script location error: /root/minimserver/bin/setup

Did you unpack the MinimServer .tar.gz archive file into the /root directory?

Yes, I did. I can start the server with startd (being a VZ container it's headless) without problems from the same folder. Not sure why I need the setup, but wanted to use the instructions on the site.
