Cannot install minimwatch on Linux x86-64 machine
Hi,
Am in over my head here. Minimserver running well on Qnap TS 209 Pro II and being seen by BubbleDS and Kinsky and working as it should. My problem started with trying to sort out multiple genres on one file. I tried the // separator (delimiter?) mentioned in another thread but the old comma separated genres from Twonky days are still there. At this point with Twonky I would have gone to web interface and forced a database rebuild. I read up a bit more on minimserver and decided I needed to install minimwatch on my linux desktop machine so I could control minimserver but when I tried the installation it crashed with the following:- [alastair@X3400server:~/minimwatch/minimwatch-0.52/data> java -jar ../lib/minimwatch.jar MinimWatch 0.52, Copyright © 2012 Simon Nash. So two questions:- Am I going about this the right way? How do I get minimwatch installed? After posting the above I tried on 32 bit openSUSE laptop with jre installed. The minim icon appeared OK but seems more blue than any other colour and right clicking gives commands but all controls greyed out. Went to QNAP admin and stopped enabled Minimserver and that seems to be working so help still requested please. Grateful for help/advice when somebody has time. Budgie |

What exactly did you see when you did a right-click on the minim icon? Were some commands available (About, Refresh, Exit) and others greyed out? Or were all commands greyed out? Does anything change when you stop and restart MinimServer, or when you press Refresh in MinimWatch? |

I didn't appreciate it was mp3tag that this was using this. I did use \\ but I was using Easytag as editor and clearly it doesn't recognise this as delimiter. Must try and get used to Puddletag. Re 64 bit machine. Removed previous version and tried the beta 64 bit to which you linked. I receive an error GLIBC_2.15 not found. I have glibc 2.14.1-14.27.1 from openSUSE repo site along with whatever version of JRE they provide. Should I try a JRE installation from the link you suggest in your installation instructions? The laptop icon had About Refresh and Exit alive but the rest greyed out. I tried stopping and starting Minimserver from Qnap QPKG but nothing changed that I could see. Tried a reinstall of minimwatch and refresh which looks like the same thing but nothing changed that I have noticed. Regards, Budgie |

If you use Puddletag instead of Easytag, you might have more success. Quote:The laptop icon had About Refresh and Exit alive but the rest greyed out. This is probably a network issue. How are the QNAP and the MinimWatch laptop connected to the router or switch (wifi, ethernet, powerline)? Are they both connected to the same router or switch? What kind of router or switch is it? If the machines are not both directly connected to the router or switch by ethernet, try doing this to see if it enables MinimWatch to see MinimServer. |

RE: Cannot install minimwatch on Linux x86-64 machine
Hi Simon,
Once again thanks. All the machines are on the same subnet and all wired except the laptop. My guess is it is more likely to be a firewall issue on the laptop. What protocol is being used and what port for the control communication please? Any thoughts about the 64 bit missing lib? Budgie |

You might need to add the Linux equivalent of javaw.exe to the list of programs that are allowed to open TCP and UDP ports for listening. Quote:Any thoughts about the 64 bit missing lib? My apologies for missing this in your earlier reply. To solve this library version mismatch, I'll need to rebuild the 64-bit versions of MinimServer and MinimWatch using an older version of gcc. I'm away from home at the moment, and I won't be able to do this until early September. |

RE: Cannot install minimwatch on Linux x86-64 machine
Hi Simon,
Many thanks. I can wait for the 64 bit version, not high priority. Regarding the 32 bit version on laptop I tried turning off the firewall but the icon in tray remained grey. Not sure when polling takes place but restart on minimwatch didn't change anything. Is there any reason why I shouldn't just use the QPKG disable/enable sequence if I need to restart minimserver? Minimserver seems stable enough on Qnap so I do not have need to do this often, only when I screw up my rsync uploads!!! Regarding the delimiter for multiple genres I first tried Easytag to insert delimiter thus:- Liturgical\\Choral When I opened the tags using Puddletag there was no change, the Genre was shown Liturgical\\Choral. So, what behaviour should I expect when viewing the track in bubble ds? What I see in the list of genres is one named Liturgical and the next named Liturgical\\Choral. What I had hoped/expected was that the file would be selectable from Liturgical or Choral genres. I didn't wish to create a new kind of genre "Liturgical\\Choral." Am I getting this wrong? Regards, Budgie |

(26-08-2012 21:43)Budgie Wrote: Hi Simon, You can use disable/enable from the QPKG Center to restart MinimServer. However, you need to use MinimWatch to make any configuration changes to MinimServer (such as enabling Liturgical and Choral tags), so it's important to get this working. Please try turning off the firewall on your laptop and connecting it to the router or switch using a direct Ethernet connection. (I presume your QNAP is connected to the router or switch in the same way.) Then try both of the following: 1) With MinimServer running on the QNAP, stop and start MinimWatch on the laptop. Does MinimWatch discover MinimServer? 2) With MinimWatch running on the laptop, stop and start MinimServer on the QNAP. Does MinimWatch discover MinimServer? Quote:Regarding the delimiter for multiple genres I first tried Easytag to insert delimiter thus:- Liturgical\\Choral Please try tagging this with Puddletag instead of Easytag. I've looked at the documentation for Puddletag, which claims to support multiple genres using the \\ delimiter. You should delete your current "Liturgical\\Choral" genre (added with Easytag), as this seems to be a literal string of "Liturgical\\Choral" which isn't what you want. After you've deleted this, please try adding "Liturgical\\Choral" using Puddletag. |
