Hello,

I don't think minimserver embed some scrobbling capacities. Is it something that could be added in the future like for Last.Fm ?

Best regards
I am not sure if this is a function of the server or of the renderer.

If you are using Linn DS, see this post on the Linn forum http://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.p...t=scrobble
It has a utility to scrobble from Linn DS units.

Peter
It should come from the server like for Logitech Media Server.

This topic was raised some time ago. I think scrobbling should be done by the renderer, not the server.
Simon,

Could you explain your reasons why you think the renderer should be responsible for Scrobbling? The logical solution in my mind is the server should be responsible but my logic might be flawed. Unfortunately the scrobbling function for LinnDS seems broken and Rockfather (the author) is obviously too busy with new Davaar software to revisit this hobby software.

I would be be very happen if this function was added to my music server of choice.

Dave
The renderer has a user interface and the server doesn't. Also, the renderer knows when music is playing whereas the server must try to deduce this from HTTP requests that it has received.

I don't have any plans to add this capability to MinimServer and it is very unlikely that this will change in the future.
Simon,
Fair enough! Thanks for your candid reply.
Dave
This thread is quite definitive but despite being unrealistic I thought it worth documenting my interest in last.fm scrobbling for MinimServer here. My renderer is out-of-support, hence no chance of scrobbling with this directly.
As an upnp server can serve multiple renderers at one time I, too, think that the scrobbling must be done by the renderer. So the tracks that I listen on my renderer are not submitted for others in my house who listen with their renderers and vice versa.
